Thai TV ทศวรรษ 2490 ยุคบุกเบิกโทรทัศน์ไทย (2491-2499) | 2493 จอมพล ป. พิบูลสงครามได้อ่านบทความของสรรพศิริ วิริยศิริ เจ้าหน้าที่ข่าวต่างประเทศของกรมโฆษณาการ เกี่ยวกับปรากฏการณ์การประดิษฐ์โทรทัศน์ในยุโรปและ อเมริกา ทำให้จอมพล ป. มีความคิดที่อยากจะตั้งสถานีโทรทัศน์ขึ้นในประเทศไทยบ้าง เพื่อใช้เป็นสื่อเพื่อการศึกษา การแพทย์ การสาธารณสุข และเป็นเครื่องมือตอบโต้ฝ่ายตรงข้ามและเสริมอิทธิพลทางการเมืองให้กับตัวเอง
ในตอนแรกจะจัดตั้งสถานีโทรทัศน์โดยใช้งบประมาณแผ่นดิน แต่เนื่องจากประเทศยังประสบปัญหาด้านการเงินอยู่ จนมีคนคัดค้านเรื่องนี้พอสมควร สุดท้ายจึงมีการจัดตั้งสถานีโทรทัศน์ขึ้นภายใต้ บริษัท ไทยโทรทัศน์ จำกัด ด้วยทุนจดทะเบียน 20 ล้านบาท
มีการส่งเจ้าหน้าที่ไปดูงานและฝึกอบรมด้านโทรทัศน์ที่บริษัท อาร์ซีเอ ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา นอกจากนี้ยังมีการประกวดราคาเครื่องรับส่งโทรทัศน์และการเตรียมงานด้านเทคนิคโทรทัศน์ขึ้น และในช่วงทศวรรษนี้เอง กรมหมื่นนราธิปพงษ์ประพันธ์ ได้ทรงบัญญัติศัพท์ วิทยุโทรทัศน์ ขึ้นใช้
ผู้ที่มีบทบาทสำคัญในการนำวิทยุ โทรทัศน์เข้ามาเป็นครั้งแรกคือ นายประสิทธิ์ ทวีสิน ประธานกรรมการบริษัทวิเชียรวิทยุและโทรภาพ โดยนำเครื่องส่ง 1 เครื่อง เครื่องรับ 4 เครื่องหนักกว่า 2 ตัน ทำการทดลองให้คณะรัฐมนตรีชมเป็นครั้งแรกที่ทำเนียบรัฐบาล และต่อมาเมื่อ 19 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ.2495 เปิดให้ประชาชนที่ศาลาเฉลิมกรุง ได้มีผู้ชมอย่างล้นหลามด้วยเป็นของแปลกใหม่ thai tv

ท่องเที่ยวประเทศไทย เกาะช้าง ประกอบด้วย 8 หมู่บ้าน คือ สลักเพชร สลักคอก เจ้กแบ้ บ้านด่านใหม่ คลองสน คลองพร้าว คลองนนทรี และบ้านบางเบ้า มีสถาที่ราชการ อำเภอ สถานีตำรวจ โรงพยาบาล และเป็นที่ตั้งอุทยานฯหมู่เกาะช้างอีกด้วย ภายในเกาะจะเป็นสวนยางพารา และผลไม้
เกาะช้าง ลักษณะภูมิประเทศส่วนใหญ่เป็นเขาสูงมีผาหินสลับซับซ้อน ยอดเขาที่สูงที่สุด ได้แก่เขาสลักเพชร มีสภาพป่าอันอุดมสมบูรณ์ ส่วนใหญ่เป็นป่าดิบเขา ด้วยเหตุนี้เอง จึงทำให้เกิดน้ำตก ลำธารหลายสาย ชายหาดสวย มีอยู่มากมาย ตามชายฝั่งตะวันตก ที่ดังๆ หน่อยก็ได้แก่ หาดทรายขาว หาดคลองพร้าว หาดไก่แบ้ ทั้งสามหาดมี รีสอร์ทตั้งอยู่เรียงรายริมหาดมากมาย ตั้งแต่ ราคา หลังละ 200 กว่า บาท ถึง 5,000 บาท ขึ้นไป นอกจากนี้บริเวณอุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะช้าง ยังมีเกาะเล็กๆ รายล้อม อันได้แก่ เกาะคลุ้ม เกาะเหลายา เกาะง่าม เกาะไม้ชี้ใหญ่ เกาะหวาย เกาะกระ เการัง เกาะมันนอก เกาะมันใน เกาะกระดาด เกาะหมาก เกาะขาม ฯลฯ ส่วนใหญ่ช่วงเทศกาล เกาะเล็กเกาะน้อยเหล่านี้มัก เสนอแต่แพคเก็จทัวร์ ปัจจุบันมีทัวร์รูปแบบต่างๆ มากมายนอกจากการเล่นน้ำทะเลเที่ยวเกาะ เช่น ท่องเที่ยวเชิงเกษตร ขี่ช้างท่องไพร ล่องเรือ ตกปลา ไดหมึก หรือพักโฮมสเตย์กับหมู่บ้านชาวประมง
